Who doesn’t love an ice cold beer? We thought that superman cooks would be remiss without a page about beers that accompany our recipes. Someday we will have proper pairings, but for now, here’s what we’re drinking these days:
Mission Street IPA is Trader Joe’s latest offering. We have fallen in love with it. This is an IPA I would suggest you try if are not quite sure if you like IPA’s. It is a mildly bitter beer and has become one of our favorites. Who knew we liked IPA’s?
Sierra Nevada Pale Ale: this is looked at as an upscale beer and out East it usually carries an import price. It was our first try in the craft beer arena. It is a favorite in the San Francisco area and is a beer you can’t go wrong with.
KBC IPA: we discovered this beer at Trader Joe’s and have grown to favor it among IPA’s. It is a more robust and bitter beer than many IPA ‘s, and we refer to it as a “mystery beer” because there is not much on the web to tell the story of its history. But frankly, we don’t care. The price is right.
I would have to say that Jackie and I tend to gravitate towards beers that are in the Amber family. We enjoy a Yuengling Light. Yuengling is toted as “the country’s oldest brewery” from Pottsville, PA. They started brewing beer in 1829. We like to support Pennsylvania beers, and this is our go to. You can always find it in our fridge. We honestly enjoy the light version just as much as the regular variety; that way we can save the extra calories for our favorite meals.
Samuel Adams is an American brewery that has been recognized for its premium craft beers. They just released a new beer this year called Rebel IPA. In the past, Jackie and I have avoided IPA’s because of their traditional “bitter” taste. However, this beer is surprisingly smooth with a medium-bodied hoppy flavor. We love it to kick off the summer.
