Savory Black Bean Burgers

A delicious veggie burger that satisfies any picky palette
Recipe type: Meatless black bean burger

Serves: 4
  • 2 small cans of black beans
  • 1 tsp garlic, chopped
  • 1 TBSP green onion, sliced thin
  • 1 TBSP red pepper
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup panko (coarse) bread crumbs
  • 2 TBSP chopped fresh cilantro
  • 4 dashes Tabasco sauce
  1. Drain and rinse black beans.
  2. Remove about half of the beans and place in a large mixing bowl
  3. With a fork, smash the beans in the bowl to a mealy consistency
  4. Add remaining beans and mix.
  5. Slice green onions into thin strips
  6. Dice red pepper into ⅛" x ⅛" pieces
  7. Add pepper, onion, egg, garlic, cilantro and bread crumbs and mix to combine
  8. Mix in Tabasco sauce
  9. Refrigerate for 10 minutes
  10. Heat skillet and spray with cooking spray
  11. Divide bean mixture into 4 equal parts and patty as you would a beef patty.
  12. Place in skillet and heat over medium heat for 5-6 minutes
  13. Turn patties over and cook an additional 3-4 minutes.
  14. Serve on bun with your favorite toppings.
