Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 stick butter
- 1/3 cup flour
- 3 cups beef broth (from pot roast drippings, premade broth or a combination)
- 1 tsp chopped rosemary
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp salt
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add flour and whisk constantly for 1-2 minutes until smooth and slightly golden.
- Slowly pour in warm beef broth, whisking continuously to prevent lumps.
- Continue cooking over medium heat until gravy thickens to your desired consistency. If it becomes too thick, whisk in a small amount of water until smooth.
- Stir in rosemary, salt, and pepper. Mix well to combine.
- Serve warm over your favorite beef, potatoes, or side dish.
Notes
- Use pan drippings from roast beef for extra depth of flavor
- For a silkier texture, strain gravy through a fine mesh sieve before serving.
- Storage: refrigerate up to 4 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat gently on the stove with a splash of broth or water.
