This Pork Tenderloin recipe is the answer to your dinner rut! With a sticky glaze and rich spices, it's a deliciously bold dish that's easy on the budget and simple to make. If you love our Bourbon Glazed Pork Chops or Chicken Piccata, you'll adore this recipe.

Pork Tenderloin Marinade

Our signature Five Spice Marinade, made with a unique blend of Asian spices, lime, ginger, and garlic, turns into a delicious sauce that gives the pork an incredible depth of flavor. Roasting the pork in the marinade seals in the juices for a tender, delicious bite. It tastes like it's been cooking all day, but it's ready in about 45 minutes.

🔪 Top tip

For maximum flavor, allow pork to marinate for at least 30 minutes (or ideally overnight).

Instructions

  1. Pre-heat oven to 350°F.
  2. Make Five Spice Marinade: In a 1 gallon zip-lock bag, combine all ingredients other than pork. Zip the bag and mix all ingredients together until well combined.
  3. Add Pork: Add pork tenderloin to the marinade and zip closed, removing as much air as possible.
  4. Marinate in the Fridge: Transfer to refrigerator and allow to marinate at least 30 minutes (up to overnight).
  5. Sear Pork Tenderloin: Using a grill pan or cast iron skillet that is oven safe, set on the stove over high heat. Remove pork tenderloin and reserve remaining marinade (save for later). Place pork in the pan and sear all sides until browned (about 3-4 minutes per side). Be careful as pork will burn if heat is too high.
  6. Roast Pork in Oven: When pork is browned, transfer it to the oven, leaving it in the pan. Cook pork tenderloin for about 15 minutes or until pork reaches 145-150°F internal temperature (use a meat thermometer to check).
  7. Make Sauce: While pork is cooking, pour reserved marinade into a sauté pan and heat over medium high heat, stirring often until sauce thickens to resemble gravy.
  8. Let Pork Rest: Once pork has reached the 145-150°F, remove from oven and allow to rest for 3-4 minutes.
  9. Slice and Plate: Slice pork on the bias in ½" slices and place on serving plate.
  10. Serve: Spoon thickened sauce over pork and serve. We like it with Balsamic Glazed Carrots, Steamed Asparagus, grilled baby Bok choy, or Cilantro Lime Rice.

FAQ

What is the best way to cook pork tenderloin?

The best way to cook pork tenderloin is by searing it in a hot pan for a golden crust, then transferring it to the oven to finish cooking. This method keeps it juicy while developing a flavorful crust.

How long should I cook pork tenderloin to keep it tender?

For tender, juicy pork, cook tenderloin in the oven at 450°F for 15-20 minutes, or until it reaches an internal temperature of 145°F. Let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.

What's the difference between pork loin and pork tenderloin?

Pork tenderloin is a small, lean cut with a mild flavor, ideal for quick cooking. Pork loin is larger, has more fat, and requires longer cooking times, making it suitable for roasting.

What is the ideal internal temperature for pork tenderloin?

The USDA recommends cooking pork tenderloin to an internal temperature of 145°F. This keeps it moist and slightly pink in the center, ensuring maximum flavor and tenderness.

What sides go well with pork tenderloin?

Pork tenderloin pairs well with roasted vegetables, creamy mashed potatoes, rice, or a fresh salad. These sides complement its rich, savory flavor without overpowering it.
