Frozen Rosé Drink (Frosé)

Just in time for summer, this easy Frosé recipe is a delicious drink that can add "punch" to any party. It's naturally sweetened with watermelon (that means no refined sugar), and just plain FUN to drink.

Frozen Rose Frose On Ice

What is a Frosé?

Frosés are an icy smooth trend in cocktails that we love. We have seen them on menus all over the city, from fancy cocktail bars to hole-in-the-wall hangouts. Traditionally made with rosé wine, fruit, and sweetener, these delicious frozen drinks go down quite easily after a long day of work.

Our favorite Frozen Rosé drink is flavored with fresh watermelon to create a refreshing spike of flavor (and gorgeous color). Freezing slices of watermelon gives this drink the frozen, icy texture we have come to expect. Like our famous Pink Señorita Cocktail, a bit of simple syrup and fresh mint garnish makes this cocktail hard to resist.

  • VODKA: we like Absolut Vodka
  • ROSÉ: your favorite cold rosé wine
  • LIME: fresh squeezed lime juice
  • ICE
  • FRESH MINT: for garnish

*see recipe card for quantities.

How to make Watermelon Simple Syrup

  1. Blend 2 C watermelon in blender. Place in small sauce pan and add honey.
  2. Cook over medium heat for 4-5 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat and place through fine mesh strainer.
  4. Store in container in refrigerator until cool (for up to 4 days).

Variations

  • SUGAR FREE: this recipe is refined sugar free (using honey as a natural sweetener). But you can omit the honey and simple syrup entirely. Watermelon is naturally sweet.
  • DON'T LIKE WATERMELON? Fresh strawberries can be used instead.
  • MIXED FRUIT: add strawberries, raspberries, or peaches for more flavor.
  • NO ALCOHOL: substitute seltzer or ginger ale for the wine & vodka for a non-alcoholic sip.

Top Tip

Slice and Freeze watermelon for at least 1 hour before you are ready to make the drinks. This will give the Frozen Rosé a good, slushy consistency.

FAQ

I don't like watermelon. What can I use instead?

We recommend fresh strawberries or a combination of strawberries and raspberries. They compliment the rosé very nicely.

Can I make Frosé ahead of time?

We recommend freezing the watermelon before blending (an hour or so will do the trick). Then when you are ready to serve, you can just blend all the ingredients together.

Can I use frozen fruit for this recipe?

Yes! Frozen strawberries, raspberries, or peaches work great for Frosé.
