Why Empress 1908 Purple Gin?
Empress Gin has the most beautiful, all natural indigo hue, derived from butterfly pea flower and other botanicals: juniper, rose, coriander seed, grapefruit peel, ginger root, and cinnamon bark. Often referred to as "purple gin", it has a mild classic flavor.
How to make this recipe:
- Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add the gin, limoncello, simple syrup and lemonade and shake for 30 seconds.
- Fill an 8 0z. glass with ice. Pour cocktail over ice and top with tonic.
- Stir and garnish with a lemon wedge dipped in organic lavender flowers, or other edible flowers of your choice
- Rim glass with purple sugar, which is made by adding 2 drops of purple food gel to ½ cup sugar and mix for 2 minutes until combined.

I made this exactly as listed and it tasted fabulous! But mine didn’t look that bright purple - did you add something else to get the color?
Thanks!!

Hello Jamie,
We're so happy to hear that you liked our cocktail! Hooray!
Actually, we have noticed that the blue color in the gin varies by bottle. If you are uncomfortable adding more gin, then natural food coloring is a good alternative. You can also buy butterfly pea flower powder on Amazon & specialty food markets.
