Tangy, peppery and completely addictive, Alabama White Sauce is the recipe you will want to slather on everything: wings, sandwiches, and even veggies.

What is Alabama White Sauce?
White BBQ Sauce is a deliciously savory, mayonnaise-based sauce made with apple cider vinegar, horseradish, and spices. We love it best with our Game Day Wings.
Also known as Alabama White Sauce, this sauce was made famous by Bob Gibson of Big Bob Gibson Barbecue in Decatur, Alabama. We've been toying with this recipe, sampling tons of different versions of this sauce to arrive at what we think is the perfect flavor combination.
Ingredients
- Mayonnaise: we like to use light mayo for this recipe
- Apple cider vinegar:
- Horseradish
- Garlic: crushed garlic cloves
- Smoked paprika
- Garlic powder
- Red pepper flakes
- Ginger: fresh ginger or ginger paste works
- Salt:
- Freshly ground black pepper

Just in time for football season, we're serving up some Game Day Chicken Wings drizzled (or dunked!) in our new White BBQ Sauce. It's a welcome alternative to traditional tomato-based barbecue sauces. If you haven't tried this yet, be prepared to excite your taste buds!
Instructions
- In a small mixing bowl, add dry spices and cider vinegar and mix. Allow to sit for 2 minutes.
- Add remaining ingredients and whisk together.
- Store in covered container in fridge for at least 15 minutes to allow flavors to marry.
Why this recipe works
Sure, you can buy a version of this sauce at any grocery store. But they just don't taste that good. Some store bought sauces are too acidic, some too tangy, some aren't creamy enough, and some don't taste like white sauce at all. So we've done the work for you, and it only takes a few minutes to put it together.
Top Tips
- Use Real Mayo: We highly recommending using real mayonnaise (Hellmann's or Dukes). Miracle Whip just won't do here (but light mayo works fine!).
- Drizzle it: serve over chicken wings, pulled pork, grilled shrimp, or slathered on a burger.
- Dip it: use it as a dip for veggies, chicken skewers, or boneless wings.
Storage
- Refrigerate before serving: refrigerating the sauce mixture for at least 15 minutes before serving allows the flavors to marry for a better flavored sauce.
- Sauce can be stored in the refrigerator of up to 7 days. Do not freeze.
