Ingredients
- BACON: we use Godshall's Angus Steak Bacon
- SANDWICH BUNS: we like soft hamburger buns
- ONIONS: top the sandwich with CARAMELIZED ONIONS (see recipe below)
- BARBECUE SAUCE: use your favorite store bought BBQ sauce
- SMOKED GOUDA CHEESE: sliced smoked gouda cheese

What kind of bacon to use
We recommend a good, thick cut, Steak Bacon for the ultimate smoked and seasoned flavor. Godshall's Angus Steak Bacon is perfect for this recipe because it crisps up beautifully and provides a rich, smoky flavor that reminds us of our favorite steak sandwich.
How to make a bacon sandwich (bacon butty)
- Place a large sauté pan over medium high heat and place bacon in pan.
- Cook bacon according to package directions, cooking until all bacon is cooked (slightly crispy).
- Place all cooked bacon back in pan. Add BBQ sauce, and cook on medium heat for 5 minutes.
- Divide bacon into 2 portions and place on each bun.
- Top each sandwich with equal parts caramelized onions.
- Top with Gouda cheese and top of bun.
How to caramelize onions
- Slice onions very thin.
- Place onions in sauté pan with 2 tablespoons of butter.
- Cook on medium low heat, turning often until they caramelize (about 15 to 20 minutes).
