Holiday Eggnog Cocktail
There's no better drink to celebrate the holiday season than our Spiked Eggnog Cocktail. Just like our famous Gin Fizz Cocktail, this spiked eggnog recipe is a signature holiday sip that everyone can enjoy. It combines eggnog, RumChata, Cinnamon Whiskey, and that all-important caramel drizzle. And it is designed to be made in a pitcher that serves 4 to 5, so you have plenty to go around. No need for a cocktail shaker!

Ingredients
- RUMCHATA: this creamy liqueur contains dairy cream, Caribbean rum, and Mexican spice. It is perfect companion to eggnog.
- CINNAMON WHISKEY: we like Fireball Whiskey or Fire Water
- EGGNOG: we used store bought eggnog, but you can use homemade eggnog also
- CINNAMON: ground cinnamon to sprinkle on top
- ICE: crushed ice works best
- CARAMEL SYRUP: we like a squeeze bottle type (like you would use for ice cream). This is the best consistency to stick to the glass.
- CINNAMON STICKS: (optional) for garnish
*see recipe card for quantities.
Instructions
- Mix Ingredients: In a small pitcher, combine RumChata, Cinnamon Whiskey, and eggnog. Mix.
- Drizzle the caramel syrup into the glass to allow it to drip down the sides.
- Pour the cocktails: fill glasses halfway with ice and top with drink mixture.
- Sprinkle with cinnamon
- Make a Cinnamon Sugar Rim: Rim glasses with a cinnamon sugar mixture.
- Garnish with a cinnamon stick (optional).
Top Tip
If the alcohol is floating on the top, it means you have not mixed the drink enough. Stir the mixture together well in the pitcher until it is thoroughly combined.
What alcohol goes best in eggnog?
We are partial to the RumChata and cinnamon whiskey combination, but here are some other spirits that pair well with eggnog:
- RUM (spiced rum or coconut rum is best)
- BOURBON
- WHISKEY
- BRANDY
- FLAVORED VODKA (we like vanilla or spiced orange)
- IRISH CREAM (Bailey's)
Variations
- JUST RUM: no RumChata? No problem. Substitute spiced rum.
- MOCKTAIL: omit the booze. Add a splash of vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg. Stir it up, rim the glass with cinnamon sugar, and drizzle with caramel syrup.
- WHIPPED CREAM: a dollop of whipped cream makes this drink even more creamy!
- TOP IT OFF: for a festive look, top with crushed candy canes or shaved chocolate.
FAQ
We love RumChata best because it contains rum and spices, but you can also use rum, bourbon, brandy, whisky, or flavored vodka.
Of course! Divid the recipe by 4 and you will have the perfect drink for a party of one!
We like a stick of cinnamon, but you can also use a candy cane, a gingerbread cookie, or shaved chocolate.
