FAQ
Simple syrup is mixture of sugar + water in equal quantities, cooked over low heat until sugar melts. So for the Blood Orange Margarita recipe, use ½ c sugar + ½ c water. This will make enough for a pitcher of margaritas, and it stores well in the fridge if you have leftovers.
Store bought blood orange juice will do, but we prefer freshly squeezed blood orange juice for optimum flavor.
While blood oranges impart a unique flavor, you can substitute regular oranges. This will give the margaritas a slightly different taste.
We recommend COINTREAU, GRAND MARNIER, or DRY CURAÇAO to amp up the orange flavors in this cocktail.
Yes, prepare the margarita mix ahead of time and refrigerate. When you are ready to serve, rim the glass, fill it with ice, and add the orange margarita mix.

My hubs and I have made this recipe 4 times now and we.love.it! We live in Coastal North Carolina, and with our very mild days recently it’s been a must! (I tell him to just pick up blood oranges at the grocery every time he goes!) If you want to stray from the typical margarita, this should definitely be your go-to! Cheers y’all!
